Sunday 28th June

Call to Worship
From the comfort of our homes we gather to worship.
We are using the gift of technology but we are still a community of faith.
We are here to worship and praise our God wherever we are.
Come, let us worship God,
Who is shown to us through the risen Christ.
Amen

Prayer
Faithful and loving God we come to talk with you now, and ask you to hear our prayers of praise & thanksgiving. We thank you for those who show us love and care, particularly our families and friends. When are thought’s are more focused on ourselves than others and we cause them sadness and pain through our selfishness, for give us Lord.
When we put you last in our lives forgive us and help us to turn to you in times of happiness as well as sorrow. Remind us each day that you are always with us and caring for us.
Amen.

The Lord’s prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Bible Reading: Genesis 22 v 1 - 14
God Commands Abraham to Offer Isaac
Some time later God tested Abraham; he called to him, “Abraham!” And Abraham answered, “Yes, here I am!”
“Take your son,” God said, “your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me.”
Early the next morning Abraham cut some wood for the sacrifice, loaded his donkey, and took Isaac and two servants with him. They started out for the place that God had told him about. On the third day Abraham saw the place in the distance. Then he said to the servants, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there and worship, and then we will come back to you.”
Abraham made Isaac carry the wood for the sacrifice, and he himself carried a knife and live coals for starting the fire. As they walked along together, Isaac spoke up, “Father!”
He answered, “Yes, my son?”
Isaac asked, “I see that you have the coals and the wood, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?”
Abraham answered, “God himself will provide one.” And the two of them walked on together.
When they came to the place which God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he picked up the knife to kill him.  But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!”
He answered, “Yes, here I am.”
“Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him,” he said. “Now I know that you honour and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him.”
Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns. He went and got it and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son. Abraham named that place “The Lord Provides.” And even today people say, “On the Lord's mountain he provides.”

Prayers for others
Restoring and healing God, some of us do not know what real sacrifice is.
Thank you for medical workers everywhere,
embodying sacrificial love in these challenging times
putting the welfare of others before their own
staying away from their family and loved ones
comforting the concerned and bereaved
reassuring the anxious and vulnerable
working to heal and restore people who are ill.
Be their guide, strength, wisdom and hope.

We pray for those among us who face discrimination every day for any reason.
We ask you to give them strength to cope.

For those among us who do not know what it is to be discriminated against.
We pray that we may have the strength to speak up and support those who do.

We ask forgiveness for the times when we have acted in racist ways and have hurt others and you Lord in the process.

God of hope and love, show us how to work for justice together,
To stand shoulder to shoulder for what is right,
Showing courage to say when something's wrong,
Put right the things we’ve done wrong,
Showing to all the love you showed to us.

Amen
